Since I've started homeschooling I really take advantage of all my county Library offers. My favorite feature is "Home Delivery." I sign on to their website with my library card, pin number and the choices from then on are endless. I no longer have to search blindly for books on the shelves. I can search online by Author, Subject, or Title to find and order anything I'm looking for. Then, within a week or two they are delivered to my doorstep.
The Library is a great place to locate old TV series on DVD such as, The Magic School Bus, Bill Nye the Science Guy and Wishbone. Wishbone is one of my favorites. They still show these on TV, though I'm not sure any of them are new. The show is always based on a classic piece of literature, remade "Wishbone" style, but following the story line enough where the kids will know what that Classic is about. They're lots of fun and even my 11 year old son enjoys them.
The Library also offers FREE computer classes! My son and I took our first one a few days ago called, "Creating a Website Using a Blog." I was just going for him, because they are typically adult classes but kids are allowed to go if an adult takes the class too. Well, it was a little basic for him, but I learned SO much, I now have this Blog! They offer a huge selection of classes like: HTML, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, JavaScript, Photoshop, GIMP, Email, Internet, Computer Basics, Digital Photography, and even eBay. This month we will be taking multiple HTML classes, and GIMP. At the end of class you are given a book to take home that reviews everything you learned, and they also give you a certificate of completion. This is great to put in the kid's portfolio for the year.
